For the past 7 years, eye cataracts have been developing in both eyes of Mr. Prophollo Mandal, 70.
After the diagnosis, Dr. Devashish and his team informed Mr. Mandal that it is not necessary for him to completely lose his vision, and that there is a treatment for his condition.
Cataract operations have been more and more possible for our team to organise, thanks to the growing connections to Doctors in Rajpur and Bhilai hospital.

Dr. Devasish carefully explains to Mr. Mandal the proposed procedure and also counsels both him and his family with their questions and doubts.
Many rural communities are very superstitious about modern medical treatments, and afraid to travel to the big cities - our goal is always to respect these opinions and take any fears seriously.
Through discussions with the team members that they have grown to know and trust, all our patients are encouraged to make their own informed decisions.
The team accompanied Mr. Mandal in our ambulance to Bhilai for his first surgery on 15th of November 2018, which was completely successful.
He is now at home for recuperation, and will hopefully be able to have his second eye treated in a few months when he is feeling ready.
Mr. Mandal is beside himself with joy for seeing better and looking forward to being more independent again in his daily life.
