In November we introduced a new mini project to you - our basic health and hygiene course for school children.
Our team in Chhattisgarh has been working hard to start this project off, and have already made some improvements for the second installment of the course, which took place in our own school in December.
The team purchased a mini projector to be able to show photos and video clips to the children, to better explain the topics covered in the course.
They also expanded the teaching team, including Parul, one of our nurses, and local volunteer Nimai.
Whilst Dr. Devashish talks to the pupils about the medical use of simple and widely available herbs, Nimai explains diarrhea (which always earns a few giggles), and Parul covers the important topic of Malaria.
Our goal is to educate young children about basic health principles and show them how to recognise, prevent, and treat wide spread medical problems like diarrhea, wounds, malaria, etc. With this grassroots approach, we are hoping to spread basic hygienic knowledge more widely and sustainably in the population of Chhattisgarh.
